Calibration of Ozone Measuring Gas Based on the UV-Photometric Method

Gerätebeschreibung

Since ozone is a very unstable gas, an ozone generator continuously producing ozone span gas is needed to calibrate ozone analyzers. This apparatus can be calibrated only to a limited extent because the ozone generator is controlled by the intensity of the UV source.

However, it is well known that ozone has an adsorption maximum in the range of the mercury resonance line at 253.7 nm, while the residual gas (synth. air) does not attenuate the radiation at this wavelength. To determine ozone, the span gas is therefore passed through a cuvette featuring on the one side a stable radiation source with an optical filter with 253.7 nm and a radiation sensor at the other side. If the radiation intensity is measured at short intervals with a cuvette through which ozone span gas flows and then measures the intensity with synth. air for comparison, the Lampert-Beer principle can be used to calculate the ozone concentration and with that determine the concentration of an ozone generator based on a primary methods.

The offered calibration system for ozone gas consists of an optical bank with glass cuvettes and the necessary sensors as well as the radiation source. An electronic module is used to analyze and display the temperature and the pressure as well as the received radiation intensity.
